Slow day in Varkala

The best breakfast I have ever eaten at a restaurant that was closed. A slow day on the Varkala cliff, good coffee, warm water, and no particular plans.

I went to the same restaurant where I’d had dinner the night before. All the tables were still out and I sat down. As I did, they started taking the tables away and put up a sign saying it was closed. But since I was already seated, they took my order and served me a wonderful pancake and fruit breakfast. The best breakfast I have ever eaten at a restaurant that was closed.

There isn’t much to do here in Varkala, but who needs much to do? Days like this are enough. Head out, have a lazy breakfast, walk along the beach, stop at the coffee shop for Kerala bean coffee, go back to the hotel for a nap when the sun is at its highest, then head out again for the cliff walk, dinner, and sunset. That’s pretty much your day, and it’s all you need. Varkala delivers.
